1 million people enter menopause every single year in the United States alone. Despite this, it is still a taboo topic that is under-researched and undiscussed. For my senior year capstone project I chose to create a zine. It aims to combat the lack of discussion and to help menopausal people of any stage understand what is happening to their bodies and to encourage conversation around menopause.

My vision for this project went through many iterations. One initial concept was to have menopause manifested as an animal or monster. Another was to use the survey results to focus solely on personal stories.

With the survey of their experiences as well as facts, I created a zine that blends quotes, statistics, and illustrations.

I would love to be able to more widely distribute my survey, my sample group was limited by the location being a college campus, and create a longer form zine or comic to dive into more personal stories.
